Cumhuriyet: Sterling-Based Real Estate
In an article published in the Business World section of Cumhuriyet newspaper, investor interest in Northern Cyprus was discussed with the assessments of Akol Global Sales and Marketing Director and Executive Board Member Özgür Koca. The same news was also featured on many websites, especially Emlak Kulisi.
Highlights from the news
- According to data from the Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Tourism Planning Department, the number of passengers arriving on the island in the first half of 2025 exceeded 1 million 140 thousand; this represents an increase of approximately 17 percent.
- The fact that real estate sales prices and many rental models are determined in sterling was presented as a key feature for investors seeking foreign currency-based income.
- İskele, Long Beach, Gazimağusa, Girne and Esentepe were listed as regions standing out with developing residential, hotel and coastal projects.
Özgür Koca’s assessments
Koca said that investors are evaluating not only a home, but also foreign currency-based income, rental yield, quality of life and long-term value appreciation together. He stated that a significant portion of the investors they meet now place Dubai and Northern Cyprus on the same evaluation table. According to Koca, Northern Cyprus “is no longer seen merely as an island visited for holiday purposes.”
Koca also advised investors not to rush: he emphasized that the launch price and payment plan should not be evaluated alone; title deed status, construction progress, the developer’s track record, actual rental demand, maintenance fees and after-sales services should all be examined together.
